How to Start in Stand-Up Comedy book launch

What a fabulous show we had for the How to Start in Stand-Up Comedy book launch! I felt so much support, we got press, the book sold well, and the comedy show was awesome — the Asian girls in the bathroom said so!

So much excitement! All I can really think of to say is thank you to so many great people!

Chris-MacLean-book-launchDiane and Nima, who know that it’s taken me 20 years of trying to finish a book, it was really cool to share a media moment with you. And thank you also to Rock and Pete, who have also been so supportive!

Craig, who has come to virtually every show and thank you for all your enthusiasm to support my “superstar” endeavours.

Dave, who has been very encouraging in my various comedy endeavours and was kind enough to take a look at the book in draft form and give me his input.

Rob, Ron and Mark at the Charlotte Room, who have been great about supporting The Comedy Cabaret, which is now in its third year. That is a huge accomplishment for a comedy show in Toronto, and I sincerely believe the show’s success is due in no small part to it being held at one of the nicest venues in Toronto, with some of the best people to work with.

I feel grateful for all the support I’ve received from the comedy community. It is so nice to be around positive people who really just want everyone to achieve their dreams. Ron Josol, Michael Harrison, Joel West, Matt O’Brien, Justin Laite, Danny Freedman, thanks for all the laughs and positive vibes. Special shout out to our Asian son DK Phan, who always seems to have a gaggle of giggly girls around him these days — thanks for being a part of it!

Another special shout goes to the awesome Victoria Stewart, who not only made people laugh, but also made an incredible book launch cake. How-to-start-in-stand-up-comedy

DJ Erl the Sqrl and sidekick Josh did a great job on the DJing.

And of course, thank you to my comedy partner Robin Crossman, who did a wonderful job hosting the show and who has been so instrumental in making this book happen. Not only did he come up with the concept for the cover and help with publishing, he weathered multiple readings of the book himself, got his family to read it, and coached me through my moments of uncertainty. Thank you also to all of Robin’s family and friends who have shown a ton of support — you make me glad that Robin has pals!

Also thank you to the nice young boy who flirted with me after the show! That was like a cherry on top! :D

And thanks to everyone else who came as audience, including Mike, Paul, Athena who showed wonderful support and seemed to enjoy the show too!

I’ll be Starring in a Short Film…

I am going to be in a short film to be released this November.

It’s a comedic horror.

I’m the horror.

Apparently me just walking around normally is terrifying, and funny. What a gift!

I’m starting to understand why I didn’t get picked to be on the Canadian version of The Bachelor.

Here is a picture from the shoot. More information to come.
