It’s been awhile since I posted and I’m getting inquiries, so I thought I would do an overall update.

I’m very excited to be booked on my former show, The Comedy Cabaret, in Toronto. Thanks to Dave Code for giving me a spot! I’ve been working some new material lately so I’ll be incorporating new jokes into some of my more polished stuff. I’ll be bringing a few of my books with me, so come to the Charlotte Room at 19 Charlotte Street before 8pm for your signed copy at the author’s discount.

I’m off to New York city to hobnob with others in the publishing industry. My book, How to Start in Stand-Up Comedy: A Guide to Becoming a Comedian in Toronto, continues to do well, and as a result, I’ve been invited to Book Expo America, in addition to some other book-related events. I also received a great compliment from a reader today, that the book, “offers a very real taste of what stand-up comedy is like in Toronto.” — that super made my day. The book continues to be available at Theatre Books in Toronto.
I also plan to do some stand-up comedy shows while in New York city, and I expect to be able to announce further exciting news following my trip to Manhattan.
Other updates:
NXNE
I’m very proud that my book How to Start in Stand-Up Comedy: A Guide to Becoming a Comedian in Toronto will be featured as part of this year’s NXNE festival. I’m very excited that the NXNE festival organizers took notice and thought it was worthwhile to promote and showcase as part of Toronto’s comedy scene and so approached me to have the book included as part of this year’s festival. NXNE is a major festival and I’m looking forward to being a part of the entire week!
National Spokesperson
I was approached earlier this year to be a national spokesperson for a major Canadian brand, and entered into contract negotiations to tour Canada as a featured act. I’ll let you know how and if things proceed. Regardless of how things turn out, it’s an honour to be approached for this high profile opportunity.
Commercial Audition
On a bit of a last minute lark, I threw together an acting resume and applied to be in a commercial. Grand total of time spent on acting resume: 10 minutes. Normally I’m just asked to be in things, or am myself the producer, so this was a bit of a different experience. I didn’t get the role, but I thought the experience might make an interesting blog post in future.
With so much going on, I obviously haven’t been able to update this blog that much, but I’m figuring that the new blog schedule for this site will be about once a month. Stay tuned! And thanks for your continuing interest.
