Comedy Milestone Reached!
I’ve reached a new comedy milestone: I’ve done a clean 5-7 minutes….hooray!
Of course, this is my version of clean. It was okay for the 12 year olds and the senior citizens. I was a bit glad the seven year old who showed up later wasn’t there during my set.
And I did quickly evaluate on stage whether I should say “Goddamn” — but then I remembered that my mother used to say it to us kids all the time. Technically, it’s a direction, as in “God — damn these kids!”
As some of you may recall, my comedy instructor’s Ted Bisaillion comment after I did my first set at Absolute Comedy was “she’ll be doing a lot of kids’ shows.”
Naturally I wrote the extra clean material I needed while slightly drunk at 2:30 in the morning the night before. I was booked to perform in high end beauty store (Murale) and it occurred to me that I should have some appropriate material. The new stuff did decently, not as good as the older stuff, but enough that I was happy with my set overall. Loved the swag bag too! Plus I found out from the very nice staff what the really great exfoliator is. And how to braid my hair over to the side.
Anyhoo, hooray for comedy milestones!
